According to the latest enterprise AI adoption research, 78% of large organizations now report actively implementing AI solutions, and investment in generative AI exploded to an estimated $37 billion in 2025, with an average reported ROI of about $3.70 per dollar invested when governance and frameworks are in place. Yet this aggregate traction masks structural bottlenecks: near-term production deployments remain constrained by trust issues, data quality, and governance gaps, with studies showing that 67% of enterprises don’t trust their underlying revenue data, stalling AI enrichment across core workflows.

This aligns closely with what application development teams report: AI adoption is accelerating, but only a minority of deployments achieve measurable scale or ROI without foundational trust, governance, and infrastructure discipline.
