Qlik UFCCC Partnership Will Help Accelerate Climate Change Negotiations Powered by Data

At Qlik’s annual Qlik Connect event held in Orlando last week, the Qlik UFCCC partnership was announced, designed to help accelerate climate change negotiations with data.

The Backstory on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was created in 1994 and has “near universal membership,” with 198 countries that have ratified the Convention. The objective of the Convention is to help stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations, helping to prevent human-driven interference in the climate system, and it puts the onus on developed countries to lead the way in affecting change. UNFCCC keeps tabs on what’s happening in industrialized countries who must submit an annual inventory of greenhouse gas emissions as well as what efforts they are taking to help mitigate climate change.

Key Initiatives of the Qlik UNFCCC Partnership, All About Leveraging Data, Integration, and AI

The key initiatives of the Qlik UNFCCC partnership are all about leveraging Qlik’s data analytics, integration, and AI-powered solutions to help support the initiatives of UFCCC. Qlik will support UFCCC in the following ways:

  • Data integration. Qlik’s unified platform for data access and analysis will help UNFCCC standardize diverse and unstructured data sources, and also help facilitate a more cohesive, comprehensive climate change policy.

  • Data literacy. Qlik will provide educational opportunities to the UNFCCC team to help increase data literacy within the organizations and also help familiarize the team with the Qlik platform/products. Qlik’s passion for data literacy, helping organizations cross the “AI threshold” and working to create a culture of data throughout an organization was a key theme of Qlik Connect, and we see that in play here.

  • Public dashboards. Qlik has developed interactive dashboards that will facilitate the UNFCCC’s goal of transparency as it relates to the organization’s efforts, providing the public with easy access to up-to-date climate data.

  • AI integration: Today, speed is the name of the game. Faster responses and the ability to make more precise, data-driven decisions will be driven by Qlik’s continuous AI and capacity analysis, which will be incorporated into UNFCCC’s analytical applications.

  • Data standardization. The integration of Qlik will help UNFCCC standardize data sources, which should help lead to the development of more comprehensive, cohesive global climate policies. Qlik’s AI-powered ability to analyze both structured and unstructured data is a significant part of the company’s value proposition, in which UNFCCC sees great value.

How the Qlik UNFCCC Alliance is a Game-Changer

It is no understatement to say that addressing climate change on a global basis is no small undertaking. That’s where I see the real beauty of the Qlik UNFCCC alliance, as UNFCCC will be able to leverage Qlik’s impressive business intelligence, data management, and analytics capabilities to more effectively help drive climate action and policies, as well as provide an agile foundation that can adapt and evolve along the way.
