What’s Next?
The enterprise open-source software market is poised for significant growth. Projections indicate an increase from $41.83 billion in 2024 to $48.92 billion in 2025, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.9%. This expansion shows the increasing adoption of open-source solutions across industries.
Within cloud computing, the integration of artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly prevalent. For instance, Alphabet has announced plans to invest approximately $75 billion in AI and cloud-computing infrastructure in 2025. Similarly, Oracle anticipates growth driven by the rising demand for advanced AI computing, with expectations of a 15% revenue increase in fiscal 2026 and 20% in 2027.These developments may indicate a broader industry trend towards integrating AI capabilities within cloud services.
Edge computing is also experiencing accelerated adoption, most notably to support IoT applications and reduce latency. The rollout of 5G technology has further fueled the growth of edge computing, enabling real-time data processing closer to the source.Projections suggest that the proportion of real-time data processed will reach 30% by the end of 2025 which further emphasizes the critical role of edge computing in handling the increasing data volumes generated by IoT devices.
The convergence of open-source software, AI, cloud-native technologies, and edge computing is completely reshaping the enterprise technology landscape. SUSE’s strategic focus on these domains positions the company to meet evolving enterprise demands, drive innovation, and maintain a competitive edge moving forward.
