Data governance is fundamental for establishing a cyber-resilient infrastructure within organizations. However, the frequent occurrence of cybersecurity incidents, such as ransomware attacks and data exfiltration, significantly undermines organizations’ capacity to adhere to data governance requirements.
According to our Cube Research survey results, 55% of respondents reported that their organization had been affected by a cybersecurity incident. Our sample size included 600 respondents from North America, APAC, and Western Europe.
The repercussions of these incidents are simply alarming.

As our chart shows, 46% of respondents indicated that they experienced permanent data deletion, while 66% reported incidents of sensitive data exposure. Furthermore, a considerable number of respondents—57%—noted a temporary inability to access data following such incidents.
This data compromise jeopardizes the integrity of data governance. Data exposure is intolerable in both the short and the long term. Since data is critical for business operations, organizations must reassess their technological investments to cultivate a resilient data governance framework.
