Research Deep Dive Into Cyber Resiliency and Data Management With Congruity 360

Our recent research shows that data management plays a vital role in ensuring cyber resiliency. Organizations must prioritize effective data classification, robust security measures, and strong governance as essential components of their business strategy.  As cyber threats evolve, adopting innovative solutions and proactive data security posture management becomes critical.

In a recent Analyst Angle, I spoke with Mark Ward, the Chief Operating Officer of Congruity360, about this research. Our discussion focused on the crucial issue of unstructured data management, which is becoming increasingly critical for organizations in today’s data-driven environment. Congruity360 is a leader in this field. In a rapidly evolving market, the importance of data classification, artificial intelligence (AI), governance, risk, compliance (GRC), and infrastructure optimization in effectively managing unstructured data cannot be overstated.

The insights shared in this discussion are rooted in research that emerged from theCube Research’s cyber resiliency summit sponsored by Congruity360. This summit attracted 600 participants from diverse geographical regions, including North America, the Asia-Pacific (APAC), Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Through this global survey, we aimed to understand various facets of cyber resiliency and data management practices, uncovering the complex relationship between cyber threats and data protection strategies.

Cyber Attack Impacts

The research findings reveal a stark reality regarding the impacts of cyberattacks on organizations. A significant portion of survey respondents reported experiencing costly disruptions. This indicates that cyber incidents are not merely technical failures but have far-reaching operational implications. The data showed operational disruptions and financial losses were the most commonly reported challenges following a cyber attack. Furthermore, data exposure—including leaks and exfiltration—ranked prominently among the concerning impacts, underscoring the pervasive threat of compromised data sanctity.

Cyber Resiliency as a Business Priority

Our discussion and research also emphasized that cyber resiliency should be viewed as both a technological and a business imperative. Effective cyber resilience practices, particularly in terms of data management and classification, are critical not just for recovering from incidents but also for aligning with broader business objectives. The findings suggest that organizations must prioritize these practices to enhance operational integrity, protect sensitive information, and ensure they can leverage AI solutions for more effective data handling and decision-making.

Insights on Market Trends

Mark Ward noted a notable shift in the data protection market as traditional as well as newer entrants respond to the challenges posed by unstructured data management. Traditional backup vendors are increasingly focused on enhancing their solutions to address the complexities of data classification and security. This shift points to a growing recognition within the industry about the need to not only manage costs but also mitigate security risks. As organizations demand more robust solutions, these companies are innovating to deliver better security measures and recovery capabilities.

The Importance of Data Security Posture Management

The conversation highlighted the rising importance of data security posture management (DSPM) in today’s data management environments. DSPM entails the systematic identification and classification of data to enhance security protocols and risk management strategies. Organizations are increasingly seeking tools that can provide better insights into their data security needs, allowing them to prioritize what information requires protection and to establish effective recovery processes. This growing focus on data security posture management signifies a trend toward more proactive and strategic approaches to data security, addressing the urgent need for resilience in the face of ever-evolving cyber threats.
