Looking Ahead to DockerCon17

If you’re attending DockerCon17 next week in Austin, you may very well see me. I’ll be covering the event in my new capacity as a Wikibon lead analyst. Just as important, I’ll be co-hosting theCube live stream at DockerCon with my SiliconANGLE colleague Stu Miniman.

A few words about myself and how DockerCon, the container market, and the Docker community intersect with my research focus going forward. I have just joined Wikibon/SiliconANGLE following a five-year stint at IBM as one their primary evangelists for data science, big data analytics, machine learning, and cognitive computing. Prior to IBM, I was an industry analyst of long standing, most recently with Forrester Research covering all things big data.

At Wikibon, my research focus is on application development, deep learning, and data science in cloud environments. Specifically, I’m drilling into how data science is revolutionizing development in the era of cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive computing.

As the heart of AI, deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) have entered cloud data service developers’ working environments through incorporation into tools for building microservices that are containerized, orchestrated, managed, secure, and reusable. Increasingly, DL/ML microservices execute in complex multiclouds through serverless interfaces that automatically provision the requisite compute power, storage, bandwidth, and other distributed resources at run time.

For a quick taste of how I’m addressing these themes in my Wikibon research, check out my latest blogs on development issues in federated Internet of Things (IoT), multi-layered application maintenance and optimization, and hybrid IoT cloud deployments.

See you at DockerCon and check us out on theCube starting 10:30am (central) on Tuesday, April 18.
