AWS Outposts Enable Hybrid Cloud

Outposts is an AWS Hybrid Cloud offering which enables different full EC2 instances to be located remotely from the AWS Cloud. This move dramatically increases the reach and range of AWS, and is the start of an era of hybrid computing. Wikibon projected AWS would announce AWS hardware on customer presumes back before 2016.

AWS Open Source Contributions Increase

Open source is now of critical importance to users, and to the industry in general. The spat over OpenJDK could have been avoided. Wikibon recommends that AWS be more aggressive in contributing to open source projects, and rewarding changes in culture. AWS needs to become a leader in the open source community, befitting the strong growth of AWS and the expected growth in reach from the excellent AWS Outposts service and the distributed IoT services.

AWS customers and international government bodies expect AWS to be a strong partner to the open source community. They also expect industry leaders to work together to resolve issues.
